Scandinavian and German tour operators explore the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees MICE sector

A group of nine Swedish and Norwegian travel agencies and another group of six German agencies had the chance to discover for themselves the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees MICE unique range of options during a fam trip.

The DMC & incoming tour operator Fil Mediterranean Travel Designers arranged the itinerary, in collaboration with Hotel Camiral, to include a wide variety of proposals all specially designed to convey the destination’s essence through its most genuine features.

The first proposal of the itinerary was to discover the Empordà and its medieval villages, as seen through the eyes of the universal genius Salvador Dalí. These same landscapes were his source of inspiration for the artistic creations that made him famous all over the world.

The tour gave participants a healthy appetite for a tapas lunch in L’Escala, before going on to visit the ruins of Empúries and discovering the area’s wealth of unique historic venues, perfectly equipped for holding special events, meetings and gala dinners.

The busy schedule allowed time to appreciate the facilities at the Hotel Camiral Golf & Spa, where the group stayed overnight. The hotel enjoys a privileged setting in the heart of the PGA Catalunya Resort, surrounded by beautiful countryside, just 10 minutes from Girona, and boasts 149 rooms with stunning views of the country’s top golf course.

In the evening, Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau presentation of the MICE offer of the destination was followed by a cookery workshop and a tasting session of Catalan cuisine using local products, which was a great success

The next day was spent exploring the city of Girona and its medieval quarter, at the same time as taking part in an entertaining iPad competition which involved the explorer-players in various tests.

All in all, these were highly positive experiences which strengthened our relations with Germany and Scandinavia, two of our key markets for promoting the region’s MICE sector.
