“Caring for the present, protecting the future” was the slogan of the 23rd Congress of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology and Oral Public Health (SESPO) which was attended by more than 200 professionals. On 20 and 21 October, the risk factors of various oral disorders and the channels to promote prevention as part of the treatment were discussed at diverse conferences and workshops, creating a forum for the exchange of opinions and experiences.

Just two weeks earlier, the 55th Annual Meeting of the Spanish Society of Clinical Neurophysiology had brought together more than 200 specialists from all over Spain and other points in Europe. In addition to conferences by experts, the programme included practical workshops with reduced numbers of participants to deal with specific aspects of clinical neurophysiology.

Priority sector for business tourism in the city

The sector of associations plays a large protagonist role in the business tourism activity in the city of Girona. On 27 and 28 September, eight Spanish societies and seven associations of a scientific, medical and technological nature took part in the Workshop of Spanish Associations organised by the Catalunya Convention Bureau in Girona with the collaboration of the Girona City Convention Bureau.

Participants at the workshop met at the Conference Centre, where they were treated to a very special visit, with music as the guiding thread.

The group had to follow the sound of an instrument to get to each of the rooms they visited. Once inside, a musician played a short musical fragment. Finally, when they got to the main auditorium, the Symphonic Hall, a quintet scattered all over the stalls played the complete piece of music. The activity finished off with lunch on the stage. The experience, which had never been done before in the Girona Conference Centre, was exceptionally well received by the participants.

There was also time to get to know the city of Girona by participating in a Gastronomic Gymkhana through the Historic District and the Jewish Quarter.
