This coming June, Girona will be the meeting point for members of the International Council of the Basque Culinary Centre, an institution made up of the Faculty of Gastronomic Sciences at Mondragon University and BCC Innovation.

The International Council is chaired by Joan Roca, chef at El Celler de Can Roca. At this council meeting some of the world’s most influential chefs, local and international journalists and experts will discuss the challenges and opportunities ahead and share their thoughts, recommendations and ideas for helping to position gastronomy as a strategic sector.

Every year the meeting is held in a different city around the world. Lima, Tokyo, New York, São Paulo, San Sebastian, Mexico City, Modena, and San Francisco hosted the previous editions up to 2019. The last two years the meetings had to be held remotely, due to the pandemic.

The 12th annual meeting of the International Council will be held in Girona and the Costa Brava. Joan Roca, chef at El Celler de Can Roca and chair of the council, will act as host for this event in the destination, which stands out for its hospitality and commitment to the gastronomic world.

The event is backed by the Catalan Tourist Board, the Catalan Government and Girona Provincial Council, through the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board and the Girona Excel·lent quality seal.
