First joint experience with the sports tourism segment

The Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau’s first joint action with the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board’s Sports Tourism Club was addressed to specialised agencies from all over France.

The commercial agenda was delivered through a virtual platform, from where a schedule of meetings was developed with representatives from event planning agencies and cycle-tourism specialists.

Based on the results of this experience, it seems very clear that collaboration between the business and sports tourism segments opens up opportunities to create innovative and authentic ideas.

Virtual trip to the heart of the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees

The digital platform created to host the promotional events for the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees tourist facilities and services was the virtual meeting point for travel agents and representatives from French event planning companies on the one hand, and professionals from the province of Girona’s tourism sector on the other.

Managed from a stage set up beneath the dome of the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, the event presented suggestions involving products related to the destination that the participants had received earlier. The dynamics yielded very active participation, breaking down the barrier of being online and maintaining the essence of an intimate and authentic experience.

This first promotional action of the year addressed to the French market resulted in almost five-hundred trade meetings and the satisfaction of reuniting with professionals from the French agencies to share new ideas, proposals and knowledge.

Close, at a distance

The Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau (CBGCB) took part in the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees Week, the first virtual promotional and commercial action addressed to the Belgian market, organised jointly with the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board.

The event brought together forty professionals from travel agencies and generated a total of four-hundred trade meetings over the course of the four-day programme.

One of the days was exclusively devoted to promoting the region’s range of MICE options among professionals from event planning agencies. With a dynamic and participative format involving the collaboration of some members of the CBGCB, we showed the Belgian professional organisers that the Costa Brava Girona destination is ready to host their events with all the safety measures necessary at every moment.
