Located on the Costa Brava, it is one of the most important archaeological sites in Catalonia. The ancient Greek city of Emporion and the Roman city of Emporiae were the gateway for classical cultures to the Iberian Peninsula. The preserved remains are a privileged testimony to this history. Empúries is a vital landmark of our past and the entry point of Romanization into the Iberian Peninsula.
In addition to the remains of the Greek and Roman cities, you can visit the permanent exhibition of the monographic museum, which features the famous Greek sculpture of the god Asclepius, the Aesculapius of Empúries.
