When a global convention of a tech multinational seeks a setting with capacity, character and a pleasant climate, Costa Brava delivers. Lloret de Mar and Girona have hosted a four-day event with over 3,000 participants, showcasing the destination’s versatility and reliability in handling large-scale corporate gatherings.
An event with an international outlook and local roots
Costa Brava has once again demonstrated its expertise in hosting large-scale events, becoming the setting for a global convention organised by a leading multinational in digital marketing and advertising technology. The company chose the destination to celebrate it’s annual convention, with a clear goal: create a unique experience for over 3,000 employees from around the world.
The program combined dynamic team working sessions, gastronomy and moments to connect with the setting. Altogether, with Lloret de Mar as the event’s headquarters and specific activities in Girona, they completed a meticulously planned itinerary.
Lloret de Mar, the focal point of the convention
Lloret de Mar took on the bulk of the programme and became the backbone of the stay. Hotels of 4 and 5 stars such as the Hotel Evenia Olympic Palace****, theHotel L’Azure or the Meliá Lloret de Mar, among others, hosted the attendees, who were divided into teams to facilitate smooth internal movements and to personalize the experience for each group.
Working sessions combined with team building activities with member companies such as La Gastronòmica, and meals spread across a selection of local restaurants.
They also utilised emblematic venues, such as Lloret Castle and the Santa Cristina Site, to host activities to foster cohesion and bonding among participants, as well as the welcome dinner and opening of the event. This combination of unique settings and functional venues contributed to create a dynamic and memorable atmosphere.
Girona, the plenary session venue
One of the key moments of the convention was the joint plenary session that was held at the Girona Trade Fair Centre. The venue provided the capacity and technical resources necessary to bring all participants together in a single setting, preserving the essence of the event and ensuring its visual and emotional impact.
This specific transfer from Lloret was smoothly integrated into the programme and highlighted the connection and collaboration between the local municipalities, reinforcing the image of a destination that works in a coordinated and efficient manner.
Key factors of a successful model
The event generated over €2.8 million in direct economic impact in Lloret and €3.8 million across the entire province. It also served as a tangible demonstration of the value that meetings tourism can create when organised with strategy, collaboration and a territorial vision.
An impact has been distributed primarily across accommodation, catering, activity companies, technical suppliers, and logistical services with strong involvement from the local sector.
It has also been an opportunity to project the region’s image as a destination capable of competing at the highest international level, providing both tangible and intangible value to organisers and attendees.
This case highlights the destination’s capacity to host large-scale events with reliability, flexibility, and a high degree of customisation. The joint efforts of public and private stakeholders, the diversity of locations and the quality of services have been key factors in achieving success.
