Girona’s MICE sector receives training on organising more sustainable events

Within the training activities planned for this year, sustainability will play a very important role. For that reason, the Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau is promoting two training courses to foster learning about how to organise more sustainable events.

The training sessions will be led by Genhético, a consultancy specialised in sustainable development and practices.

Ethical and sustainable MICE tourism

Addressed to companies in the business tourism sector and event planners, this course deals with how to apply sustainability to the MICE industry to accompany the participants towards a new way of organising and holding events by:

  • Understanding the basic concepts of sustainability
  • Identifying challenges and opportunities
  • Aligning yourself with the UN’s 2030 Agenda
  • Determining the next steps to take in the company
  • Promoting a more sustainable MICE tourism industry

How to communicate consciously and avoid ‘greenwashing’

In this session we will explain how to apply conscious communication and identify greenwashing actions (those that fraudulently exploit the values of sustainability), with the aim of fostering the company’s competitiveness through customer and talent acquisition and loyalty.

The course covers the following points:

  • Conscious communication and greenwashing
  • Sustainability certification and annual reports
  • Identifying areas to improve in internal and external communication
  • Processes for obtaining European funds
  • Promoting a more sustainable MICE tourism industry
